Welcome to the LeapZeum

Raenell Dawn, Leap Day Baby 1960

Thank you for visiting.
I will be your guide, my name is Raenell Dawn.

This display of Leap Year items was inspired by the collectors of Leap Year items before me. Through my research I came to the realization that there was
a time in our history when Leap Years
were recognized, and celebrated, by
society. The items on this website will
usually have the words Leap Year or
Leap Day on it, or the date February 29
is clearly marked.

Deborah Hyland is 'curator', if you will,
of the Leap Year Postcards. She provides
information about the cards that represent
her extensive research.

Collectors of Leap Year memorabilia are
encouraged to display their collection here.
Marianne Vander Zanden, a collector of
Leap Year memorabilia, donated images
of her Leap Year Postcards and Leap Year
Valentine Cards .

We hope you'll enjoy looking around and
learning about how Leap Year was once
celebrated in our society of yesteryear
through the use of these items.

The name of the person who donated the
image is posted upon their approval.
Everyone who donates an image to the
LeapZeum is afforded the opportunity
to be mentioned.

If you would like to include your collection of Leap Year items
in the Leap Year Museum just email me,
Raenell

We know February 29 is Leap Year Day, but it is not spelled with
capital L, Y and D because it is not "recognized" as a holiday. It
does not have to be "recognized" as a holiday. It IS Leap Year Day.
