ARTIST AND AUTHOR GET AN 'A'
Born in Columbus, Georgia in 1950, Nancy lived in
Manchester, Georgia all of her life until leaving to
study at the University of Georgia in Athens, and at
LaGrange College in LaGrange, Georgia. Nancy
received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from
LaGrange College, and her Education Specialist
degree from West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia.
Nancy successfully taught first grade for 21 yeas until
illness forced her to retire in 1988. At that time she and
her husband, Dan - also a retired teacher - built a new
home in Manchester, Georgia where they now reside
and where Nancy works on her painting when she is able. |

Nancy Lucas has the ability to draw what
her eyes see. While she may have studied art in college, she is very
much a self taught water color artist.
Nancy
is a member of the High Mountain Museum in Atlanta where she attends
exhibits and studies the great
art on display at various times. Nancy is
also a member of the Columbus Artists' Guild in Columbus, Georgia.
The painting shown above, with Nancy, was entered in a recent members' show, and
won best in group. Her love
of the Impressionists inspire
her to bravely use vibrant color in her own work.
Nancy was inspired to write "The
Peacock's Promise" through the birth of her grand daughter,
Caroline. She
was inspired to draw the Leap Year Series by Raenell Dawn. |
