Leap Year Proposals

To make it easy for women to propose, several thoughtful postcard publishers issued
ready-made Leap Year proposals. All that was necessary was for the woman to fill in
her name and that of her beloved.

We know the names of many publishers who issued fill-in-the-blank Leap Year proposals,
such as Bilek, Birn, Bradshaw, Chown, Meyer, and Ward Lock & Co. Many other unknown
publishers also issued these cards, perhaps because they were relatively inexpensive to
produce, with simple fonts and no fancy art required.

Dear________
That you are a bashful boy
Is easily seen at a glance.
If I would marry you,
(Which I am willing to)
Could I wear the pants?

    Lovingly, Yuno

These cards are part of
a series of Leap Year
proposal cards
by an
unknown publisher.
The cards look alike
at first glance, but
the verses are different.

LEAP YEAR PROPOSAL
Dear Heart I've been waiting years for you
But you lack the courage, yes you do.
I have the courage to ask you see
Will you--Will you marry me?

A Leap Year Proposal

Several companies issued series containing both proposals and replies.
