To make it easy for women to
propose, several thoughtful postcard publishers issued
ready-made Leap Year proposals. All that was necessary was for the
woman to fill in
her name and that of her beloved.
We know the names of many
publishers who issued fill-in-the-blank Leap Year proposals,
such as Bilek, Birn,
Bradshaw, Chown,
Meyer, and Ward
Lock & Co. Many other unknown
publishers also issued these cards, perhaps because they were
relatively inexpensive to
produce, with simple fonts and no fancy art required. |
