Every New Year it was popular to send date cards to
mark the occasion. These cards all feature the
year in large number and are often decorated with flowers
or good luck motifs such as anchors, spider
webs, four-leaf clovers, etc.
In 1908, a number of publishers realized, perhaps belatedly, that the coming year would be a
Leap Year.
Many 1908 cards have a red sticker pasted over a corner of the card, often covering up another motif. |
