At
first glance, the Leap Year connection of these cards is
not obvious. They were put out
by the English company,
Raphael Tuck & Sons and are titled "Leap Year
Valentine
Series."
They are copyrighted in 1907.
The lovely,
colored pencil illustrations are by E. Curtis and
feature
young girls on the hunt
for a wee sweetheart. |

Fall into my
trap,
you'll find life a "snap" ! |
A
"golden" chance to save your life,
And another - make me your wife ! |
|
 |
 |
In
ambush I lie, your heart to attack,
With your love, my dearest, you may strike back |
You're
the lad I've sought,
Pray, come and be caught ! |
|
 |
 |
I've
caught you with my lasso true,
Please take me for your lass, oh, do ! |
I
love you well, my dearest laddie,
Say that for life you'll be my caddie. |
|
 |
 |
Your
heart is the target, the arrow am I;
You are my "beau," dear, so I've let the dart fly ! |
Your picture dear, I'll paint from life,
If you will make the artist -- wife! |
|
 |
 |
A symbol now to you i fling,
Pray, send me back a wedding ring! |
With you as the groom and I as the bride
Forever through life let's ride side by side |
|
|

|
|
I
will "court" you and love you all my life,
If you'll take me as partner and as wife. |
