"Leap for a Man, Girls; It's Leap Year."
1920

In 1920, the Joe Morris Music Co. put out a Leap Year song called
"Leap for a Man, Girls; It's Leap Year." The lyrics and music were by
Harry Pease, Ed G. Nelson and Gibert Dodge. An image of the sheet
music is coming. But for now, here is the lyric.
Girls oh Girls,
There's love in the air--
Girls oh Girls,
You'd better prepare--
If you are single and all alone
This is the year to win yourselves a home

Chorus:
Leap, for a man, Girls it's Leap Year,--
Leap for the first one you see--
Whether he's homely, Lanky or small--
You'll find him better than nothing at all--
Leap, with a man for the license--
Then through the old church door--
If you think your sweetie is a little too slow
Simply pop the question, he wont (sic) dare to say "No"--
Leap, for a man, girls its (sic) Leap Year--
or you may have to wait for four years more--

Girls oh Girls,
Just take my advice--
Girls oh Girls,
You'd better think twice--
Don't be too fussy about a man
Go out and capture any one you can

Chorus:
Leap, for a man, Girls it's Leap Year,--
Leap for the first one you see--
Whether he's feeble, Weak or forlorn--
He may be able to keep your feet warm
Leap, with a man for the license--
Then through the old church door--
If he don't obey you when you make a command
Lead him to the alter with a gun in your hand--
Leap, for a man, girls its (sic) Leap Year--
or you may have to wait for four years more--
